We wish you a Covid Christmas

I always look forward to this time of year. I love the lights, the festive activities, the fact that I won't be working for a little while.... but this year is completely different. In Maryland we are entering a huge surge of Covid cases. Things are beginning to shut down in an effort to flatten the curve. My family and I are not ones to play with fire so we are heeding the advice of scientists and medical professionals and trying to stay home as much as possible. That means no festive activities, no going out to restaurants and enjoying their beautiful decor, no nothing. We are trying to make the best of this situation for children (i.e. we have spent far too much money on them) but the thing is, I am sad. I am sad for the people that are stuck in their homes without families. I am sad for the people who have lost a loved one. I am sad for the people without jobs or income during this holiday season. I am just sad. But I am also thankful. I am thankful for everything that I have and the luck that we have had this year. We had our miracle baby. We both are still working. We have a roof over our heads and food in our bellies. We don't want for anything. So anytime I start to get down I have to look at the things that I have that others do not. Although I am sure this Christmas won't be the same as other years, it will still be a wonderful and merry Christmas. I hope everyone finds some sort of comfort the season. Merry Christmas!
